3 til Chuck Season 3

I'm in the fifth hour of the marathon on SyFy and I have to say I thoroughly am enjoying it! It's great to see Chuck, the Buymore and all that good stuff between Sarah, Casey and him. So I'm truly even more pumped for this Sunday when new episodes of Chuck will be aired on NBC.

Besides its eminent return I've been talking about the amazing stuff that makes Chuck such an enjoyable appearance on my television screen. And the reason for today are the awesome and talented guest stars.

Like the rock star that caused a bit of ruckus, or how about the first girl sever the ties between Chuck and Sarah. Oh how about his college girlfriend who turned out to be Fulcrum, and speaking of college how about Bryce Larkin, who is the catalyst in the story but also in over a handful of episodes. And always brought disaster with him.

Do you remeber Sarah's farther the con artist, who despite Sarah's attempts at lying saw their true relationship. And we can't forget Chevy Chase and Scott Bakula who brought humor and a whole new level geekery with the characters of Orion and Ted Roark.

And of course the ever plethora of seductresses or seductors on this show! Plus I had to add Tricia Helfer, cause BSG is awesome and I wanted to mention as an FYI that The Plan is premiering on the SyFy channel on Sunday from 9-11, and while I'll be watching Chuck, I still wanted to give a shout out.

The thing that I really enjoy the fact that while entertaining the guest stars always add to the storyline in a positive way, they sorta act as an inertia for the plot and never fail to reveal to Chuck or Sarah something about themselves both separately and relationship wise.

Oh 2009!

It's that time again! Yes, 2009 is over but it still had some memorable and amazing discoveries.

1. gLee!
So awesome and amazing. I love every moment of it and can not wait til April when it returns. All I can say brilliant characters, amazing writing and the hilarious Jane Lynch. This show just speaks to all the geekiness in my soul :)
2. Bones
While it's been on air for a four previous seasons--I only discovered it this summer. And it is pure magic. I love the dynamic between Seeley Booth and Tempreance Brenan that keeps me coming back. Despite all the struggles and depressing events they have had to dealt with, there still remains magic and light in their relationship. Plus they have some widly fascinating cases and magnificient work atmosphere with interesting characters. Really its a can't miss

3. Firefly/Serenity
So I was tad late on this train but I can't believe this show only lasted a brief moment in time. I totally love all the characters and how bad Mal pretends to be when deep down he has a heart as pure as gold.

4. The Script
After fall in love with them at a Borders and the beautiful city of Ann Arbor, I don't know what to say about this duo. They got me through some exercises or just times when I want mellow out. I love these guys and can't wait to hear more of there amazing songs. Song that just hit the heart in all the right places.

5. Katy Perry
While everyone thinks Lady Gaga is where it's at, but I really love the majority of the stuff that Katy Perry writes. A lot of her metaphors are just right. Anyways, she one of my fave new artist of the year. Plus she used Matt Dallas in my sad song of the year (Thinking of You), can't get better than that :P

6. Star Trek
So, this was my movie of the summer. I don't even know why I like it so much. All I can say is that it was refreshing and a nice surprise. I guess I went in thinking that I could just stare at the beautiful Chris Pine if it was a total slump, but in the end I fell in love with the franchise that had been set up and truly enjoyed the plot.

7. The Hangover
This had to be by far the best comedy of the year and every single actor that participated in this piece was brilliant, even down to the lost groom. Seriously there were some shining moments and it was just a one of the more creative concepts presented to the public this summer. Best moment had to be when the guy jumped out of the trunk, like some kind of mountain lion. LOL.
Goodbyes
1. Kyle XY
It was super hard for me to say goodbye to this show. And a lot anomisity came from within when I heard the disgraceful news, because I truly loved this show. I really thought it to be unique and original and I guess that's what the problem was unfortunately, people seem to like to watch the same old junk. But that's life and I truly wish the best for the cast and crew. And I guess I'll cross my fingers for a movie

2. BSG
What can I say?? Battlestar Galactica, made me the sci-fi junky that I am today. Seriously, it washed away all my preconceived notions of what science fiction meant and I loved the story it told, even though at the end it got a bit forced with the images of robotics in our culture. But serious props to the creator, writers and actors of this great adventure!

TV Season Recap Podcast Adventure!

Ashitakas Angels Podcast #3 - Ashitakas Angels

Long time no podcast, dear readers. That's right, Mind Grapes and I decided to do another podcast. This time around, we decided to do a sweeping season recap! Exciting, I know. We basically talk about all the shows we watched (in part or in total) and give our general impressions (plus bonus haikus! yay!). Just be warned, it's a long one. So, do whatever you need to do to settle yourselves in...grab your favorite beverage, pick your favorite chair, etc., and let the beautiful yet (hopefully) entertaining chaos that is an Ashitaka's Angels podcast overtake you.

ETA: Please ignore the random musical interlude around the 4 minute mark. Don't really know what happened there. Oh yeah...we're professional.

Battlestar Galactica 4.22 "Daybreak, Part 2"

Wow. Wow. Amazing. Absolutely frakking amazing. So amazing I don't even know where to start. I haven't read any reviews yet because I don't care how other people felt about this finale, I thought it was absolutely perfect. I feel totally satisfied. I'm heartbroken because of the fact that the show is over, but otherwise totally satisfied in every way.

First of all, KARA THRACE, WTF?! WHAT?! She was an angel all along???? She wasn't really "there"? Does this mean she was the same as the head characters or was she different? Clearly she was different because everyone could see her, but was she also sent from God? I think this will probably be the biggest question most people have because it was by far the biggest "WTF?!" moment of the episode. I liked it though. How sad was it when she dissapeared in front of Lee?

I pretty much cried throughout the whole episode. Anytime some music cue happened or someone gave eachother a meaningful look, I got emotional. But the part that I cried the most at? The moment Roslin died. I was sobbing. Full on sobbing all the way through the commercial break. What an absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking scene. Just...god, I can't even talk about it right now. ;_;

Gaius was amazing this episode, you guys. AMAZING! I love Gauis, and to see him get redeemed was just....gosh, it was just awesome. He saved the day! And him and Caprica Six got together! That may have made me happy more than anything!

Thank the frakking gods Helo lived! Oh dear sweet lord did I about have a heart attack when I thought he was dead! I'm so so so happy that him and Athena and Hera all got to live happily ever after! So happy I'm crying again just thinking about it!

The technical aspects of this episode were amazing! The way it was shot and edited and the music! Wow. Just SO good. The special effects during the space battle at the colony were fantastic and I gasped aloud about 20 times. The most effecting part of the episode for me however was the opera house sequence. The way everything was cut together, with each character realizing they were taking part in their vision. And the music swelling in the background as it cut back and forth between the vision and reality all culminating to Gaius and Six seeing the 5 standing in the CIC. Amazing. I'm getting goosebumps again.

I don't know what else to say. There's so much more that needs to be said but that I can't put down right now. All these thoughts are swirling around in my head! I know I'll have more to say about it later, so I'll probably end up doing another post eventually. But right now, all I have to say is...Wow! They did it. They really really did it. *sniff*

End of Line.

The end...it is here. It took a really long time for me to even start this post because I just didn't know what to say. This show has meant a lot to me in the short time it was on the air and now it is ending. Sure, we can look forward to "The Plan" movie in the fall and Caprica the series next year, but it's not the same.

It's funny, being confronted with the end has made me go back and look at where my love for this show first started. I didn't start with everyone else. I was late to the bandwagon. I started watching the Season 1 DVDs during the break between the two halves of season 3. For more perspective, the first episode of this show I ever watched live was episode 3.12 "Rapture". So I haven't been connected with this show for as long as many people have been. Instead of 5 years of my life, it's been 2. I haven't been there from the beginning, but that doesn't mean this show doesn't mean as much to me as if I had. I remember on a whim buying the first episode "33" on iTunes, not really knowing much about it except that it had been lauded as "the best frakking show on television." I had no idea there was a miniseries I was supposed to watch first, and therefore was extremely confused when the show started with the notion that the viewer was familiar with the mini. I knew I was confused, but I also knew I really liked what I saw, and after watching the second ep, "Water", I went out and bought the Season 1 DVDs. I think I went into the show at a slight disadvantage however, because with "33" being my introduction to the show and not the miniseries, most of the revelations of the miniseries weren't surprising to me. I've heard from multiple people that the moment where Boomer walks out at the end of the mini, revealing herself to be a cylon, was what got them hooked, but for me, I already knew that big revelation. I enjoyed the first season immensely, but it wasn't until the finale of season 1, "Kobol's Last Gleaming", when I really got "hooked". Everything about that episode: the awesome space battles, the talks about religion, Lee turning against his father, Kara finding the arrow, the Girl!Fight with Six, Helo and Sharon and betrayals and pregnancy, Boomer stepping onto that ship, the ruins of the opera house morphing into the beautiful light-filled opera house of Kobol, the music swelling in the background, Gauis and Six finding the baby, and lastly, Boomer's handshake turning into a gun, the three shots ringing out through Galactica as the crew weeps over Adama's body. Everything about it was amazing.

So what can I say about the show in general? What does it really mean to me? Well, I think it is probably the best show on television at the moment. Or at least, the best show I've ever seen. This show really made me think about things in ways I never had before. It took characters who I initially hated and then turned them into one's who I now can't bear to let go. I used to hate Tigh, but somewhere along the way, they turned him into one of the most complicated and fascinating characters on this show, one who I still disagree with from time to time, but who I love just the same. The special effects are amazing, the set design is amazing, the music is amazing, the cast is absolutely frakking amazing!

I know everyone's going to be doing their 'best moments' lists, and I can't wait to read them, but I don't think I can do it. Choose only a handful of best moments? I'll be here all week! So instead, for fun, a little bit of generalization for ya:
Favorite characters: Gauis, Helo, Kara, Six (all variations), D'Anna, Athena, and Doc Cottle :)
Favorite 'ships: Helo/Athena (OTP!), Kara/Sam (when she's with Sam), Kara/Lee (when she's with Lee), Gaius/himself, Gaius/Caprica Six, Adama/Roslin.
Favorite episodes:
1.10 "The Hand of God"
1.12 "Kobol's Last Gleaming: Part 1"
1.13 "Kobol's Last Gleaming: Part 2"
2.07 "Home: part 2"
2.10 "Pegasus"
2.12 "Ressurection Ship: Part 2"
2.15 "Scar"
2.18 "Downloaded"
2.20 "Lay Down Your Burdens: Part 2"
3.04 "Exodus: Part 2"
3.07 "A Measure of Salvation"
3.09 "Unfinished Business"
3.20 "Crossroads: Part 2"
4.08 "Faith"
4.12 "Revelations"
4.15 "The Oath"

So how do I end this extremely melodramatic post? How about with this: I've gotten about 5 people hooked on this show. Some who have never watched a single thing that could be called "sci-fi" in their life, but who fell in love with this show just the same. It subverts genres and it breaks down stereotypes. It empowers women and it reflects real social issues of our time. It is important, it is timeless, and it is ending today. It may be over, but it will never be forgotten. SO SAY WE ALL!

Battlestar Galactica 4.21 "Daybreak, Part 1"

*I've just now realized that I've been numbering the episodes wrong this whole time. Fixed now.

Because I seem to not be able to do anything except bullet points, that's what you're getting again:
  • I really really liked this episode. I'm not really sure why either. It's still very much a set-up episode, but it was a good one. I think I may like it because it hasn't been quite as depressing as the last few episodes have been. While sad things happened in this episode, I'm finally able to see some hope in the distance...
  • I thought the flashbacks were really interesting. At this point I'm still trying to figure out what purpose they served though. Originally I thought they were put there to show how much everyone's lives sucked before they got on Galactica, and that they were finally able to be happy and connect with people on Galactica (much like what Roslin's speech to Adama last episode was about), but now I'm starting to think they were there to show just how far these characters have come. To show how much they've grown and how much they've gained. That, or it's going to turn into a "this has all happened before and it will all happen again" kind of thing.
  • Obligatory scene which made mindgrapes cry: When Laura walked onto the flight deck, choosing to join Bill, and the rest of her family, in their suicide mission. Barely able to stand, but not about to be left behind. Just beautiful and heartbreaking.
  • Gaius Baltar. He continues to be, in my opinion, the most fascinating character on this show. Lee calling him out about never doing a completely unselfish act really got to him, and you could just see it on his face as he decided not to join the mission. I think Gaius is going to play a really big role in the rest of the finale and I cannot wait to see what happens with him.
  • Once again, some of the scenes that had the most emotional effect on me were all the ones with Helo. I hate seeing him like this, barely being able to keep it together, but what I hate even more is hearing Athena say that things are not going to be ok. They are! They are, Athena, shut up! :(
  • I'm really wondering where this finale is leading us. I know the last mission can't only be to rescue Hera and kill the "bad" cylons, but I have no idea where the show is headed. Are they ever going to find a home? Right now, I'm thinking Hera's notes are somehow going to end up being a map, maybe? I'm assuming they had something to do with Anders giving them the coordinates of the Colony. I have no idea, and all the preview showed was things blowing up!
Hm, I was a little more thinky in my review today compared to my normal rambling reviews. I think I'm being a little more somber because I just can't believe this was the first part of the series finale. It doesn't seem real at this point. Next week is going to be a very, very emotional time for me.

Quick Dollhouse thoughts: Next week's ep really better be the turning point for this show, because I'm finding my attention slowly waning. Also, does anyone else think that the actress who plays Sierra should be the lead of this show? She's just...a better actress, and far less annoying. When you actively root for Kevin McKidd's brother on Journeyman to kill Echo, you know you have a problem.

Battlestar Galactica 4.18 "Islanded in a Stream of Stars"

I wasn't going to post about this episode of Battlestar, but then Zozizzle said I had to even when I explained to her that it was going to consist mostly of me being overly emotional and incoherent. She then said that she enjoys exploiting my emotional vulnerabilities, and instructed me to use some bullet points for coherency. So here you go:
  • Much like the last few have been, this episode was still very much a set-up episode. It seems like all of the major answers are being left for the finale and it's making me a little worried that there won't be enough time for everything or that it will be rushed. Not too worried though. Ron Moore is a genius....
  • and also a bastard! This show is just so unbelievably depressing and after listening to his podcast last week, I know that Moore takes some kind of sick pleasure out of it. Do my tears amuse you, Mr. Moore? Do they?!
  • Even when it is depressing though, it's still SOOOOOOO amazing. Hurts so good.
  • I really liked this episode despite the fact that it was a set-up episode. It was very slow moving, but that helped in making it such a strong character piece.
  • I think Kara wanted her secret out there. If she didn't, why did she tell Gaius fraking Baltar of all people?
  • That scene with Kara and Sam where she was calling him "her Sam" was so sweet...and then she almost shot him in the head.
  • Sam as a hybrid is so weird! I don't want him to stay like that forever! I want him to grow his hair back and be sexy again!
  • Oh god, Boomer. Boomer! I HATED her at the beginning of the episode. Having to hear little Hera calling out for her mom was absolutely heartbreaking, and then Boomer was being such a massive bitch again that I couldn't wait until someone airlocked her ass. But of course, being Battlestar, characters can never be just black and white, so they made Boomer bond with Hera and even cry when handing her off to Cavil. PLEASE HAVE A CHANGE OF HEART, BOOMER!!!! DO THE RIGHT THING!!!!!
  • More heartbreak? Helo and Athena. Oh god. They are my OTP, I wan't them to be happy more than anything, but now Athena can barely even look at Helo and Helo feels so guilty and their whole situation is so TRAGIC! That scene where Helo begs Adama to let him take a raptor was so sad it made me cry and ugh...I hate seeing that family like this. :(
  • Where was the Chief? I wanted to see fallout from last episode.
  • I LOVED the scene between Gaius and Caprica Six. It's been so long since those two have had a scene together and there's so much history between the two. I hope they have a lot more screentime together.
  • Roslin and Adama are a bunch of pot heads!!!
  • More seriously though, that scene between them was very beautiful. I love how she told him she felt at home by his side in Galactica.
  • Another beautiful scene was the one between Kara and Lee. That scene wasn't even romantic to me either, it just showed how strong their friendship was. Kara putting her picture up on the wall was really nice too.
  • While I thought the Adama/paint scene was a little overdone, I loved that shot of him and Tigh sitting on the couch afterwards drinking to Galactica. So poignant.
As much as I liked this episode, it was really hard for me to watch and very very sad. And I realized that it wasn't really because what was happening within the episode was so sad, but because I know the show is coming to an end soon and I'm having a hard time coming to terms with it. I can't wait until the next episode to see what happens, yet at the same time I don't want it to come because I never want this wonderful show to end.

Best Kisses of All Time

I was suppose to make this post for Valentine's Day, but we can spread the love into the month of March--it can use :P

So here are my top ten kisses in my television history. There the examples of the best romances and relationships developed throughout the year. So get ready to say "aww"

Number 10: Admiral Adama and Laura Roslin

"Revelations"
Laura and Adama. There what we like to call the Mama and Papa of the fleet and although they fight at times and disagree. They have a beautiful and sweet relationship, in which each understand the other in a very rare and scary way. I'm so glad they're finally together, though I could have done with out their sex scene!

Number 9: Kyle and Amanda

"Whats the Frequency Kyle?"

It took a season and a half for these two to finally make it. And although a slightly cheesy background (a garden like oasis), it still is sweet that they finally stop all the talking and Kyle finally gets it and simply kisses her. I also think that Matt Dallas is just so amazing because he completes the feat of experiencing things for the first time ever, as if it really is his first time! It's amazing. Also I truly rooted for this couple cause Kyle just really fell for her from the very start. In their case it truly was love at first sight.

Number 8: Clark and Lana

"Calling"

Surprised? I have often complained about the gratuitous nature of their relationship, but in the beginning--the pure crush that Clark had on Lana and that she secretly harbored in her heart for him were endearing and sweet. So when they finally kiss after she brings him a birthday cake and he implies that he wish has always been to kiss her....and then it comes true! It's just pure television bliss for the fans who invested the time and payoff of their chemistry.

Number 7: Lucas and Brooke

"The Wind That Blew My Heart Away"

So I may be the only person in the fandom who really truly, fully and completely rooted for Brooke and Lucas to make it in the the end but here it is my top kiss for OTH occured in my fave episode of all time. I love this moment between them because not only does it involve rain but it also has an argument between them--where in her true nature Brooke questions why he chose her and loves her. And what does Luke do? He never fails to give her the reasons why before they share an epic-esque kiss.

Number 6: Kyle and Jessi

"Electric Kiss"

Although I am iffy about this couple, and the whole situation in which it occurs. I have to admit that it turns out to be a bitter-sweet moment with a beautiful connection between the two surviving creations of Zyx. Besides read the title, how could it be a misfit?

Number 5: Starbuck and Apollo

"Home"/"Six of One"

The first of many amazingly emotion filled encounters between Lt. Kara Thrace and Cpt. Lee Adama occurs when Starbuck returns from a mission and out of nowhere Lee takes the initiative and shockingly plants a tender kiss on Starbucks lips! And this moment doesn't get lingered upon and they simply move on after a witty exchange.

Then another monumental moment occurs between all the gray area of the past in "Six of One" when Starbuck is locked up in the brig once and again and Lee is departing from his call sign of Apollo to join and Quoram and as a good bye they share this prolonged kissed that attempts to sum up their feelings for one of them--and it comes pretty close.
OK so obviously I am a big fan of Lee and Kara---And I guess what I'm trying to say is that all these moments that they've shared shows how much they belong together and how much he truly loves her and she appreciates him for being there for him. Also they've proved multiple times what a kick-A team they are!!!

Number 4: Veronica and Logan

"Weapons of Class Destruction"

What can I say they're EPIC! It's undeniable from the moment they hooked up its been dynamite! Literal they're a very explosive couple.

I mean for goodness sake! The first time they kiss is after Logan comes to her rescue. Why do I love this moment? It's just so perfect. I love the fact that she looks at him for a moment and in an impulsive moment gently kisses him for a mere second. Then when she once again stares into his eyes, she becomes unsure of herself--a rare trait to find in Veronica. But it also is very realistic and I can just imagine the thoughts that are running through her head. But then before she can even walk 3 feet away from him, Logan pulls her into his embrace and opens the floodgates of his emotions. Something that I never really saw coming. I mean I usually can pick up on romantic connections but Rob Thomas, the trickster that he is caught me off guard :) And all is forgiven becuase it is such a wonderful moment. The scene finally ends with her looking up at him with entagled and opposing emotions of fear and wonderment.

Number 3: Jim and Pam

"Casino Night"

Okay so, Casino Night! Amazing!! Not only does Jim lay it all on the line and get shot down. He still ends the night with an insane in the membrame kiss with the girl of his dreams. I mean he spills his guts along with a few tears and all she can do when caught up in the moment is kiss him back. I love this episode and moment because it filled with disappointment, pain, but most importantly the hope and maybe a chance that they could end up together.

Number 2: Chuck and Sarah

"Chuck versus the Imported Hard Salami

I love this scene! Chuck and Sarah are meant to be from the beginning but this scene is so intensely perfect cause they think its the end and filled with foreshadowing (to an extent) but also through it all Chuck shows his true colors--sticking it out when it gets tough, specifically for the promise of Sarah's safety and Sarah being the bossy protective spy she is to be for the 'asset' but in the end she breaks and can't keep herself from him any longer. This is a theme that we see being brought up repeatedly throughout the show. They display true passion! Props Given to Yvonne and Zach. I really hope that they end up together and not just as a cover. I'd say that season 2 has been playing with my emotions along with theirs.

Number 1:Sydney and Vaughn

"Phase One"

Finally made it! Sydney and Vaughn, this scene shall be remembered always it. In my mind it is the classic television scene that all other shows try to recreate. In a moment of victory all they can think of is being with one another. The way in which the scene is set up is so perfect that you almost want to cry. They are set apart from each other, literally on separate parts of the room and as soon as the smoke has cleared away they move toward each other, the music swells, its quite cinematic, and when they finally meet no words are exchanged its all about their physical connection. And it truly comes down to the chemistry between the two of them and it is there. P.S. Michael Vartan also looks like he is an amazing kisser. I don't know why you'd leave that for Ben Affleck--but its all good. I don't have to feel so bad for admiring his sex appeal :P

Final Comments
There's my list for the ages. I hope you enjoy and feel free to challenge these words, but I truly feel that you won't find better on the TV landscape. Also if you hadn't notice the majority of the list are first kisses. Here's a hint if you didn't get it right the first time, chances are that it'll never be right. Honestly! It's really about the chemistry and passion. Love its complicated.

Battlestar Galactica 4.17 "Someone to Watch Over Me"

Gosh, Battlestar! Way to make me feel all depressed! Why you gotta be like this, Show? I spent a good majority of this episode either totally freaking out, crying, or both. Initially I was crying for Tyrol and Boomer, and their love that could never be. In the end however, I was crying over Athena and Hera and how much of a crazy bitch Boomer turned out to be. Boomer and Helo sleeping together while Athena watched was one of the most disturbing things I've seen on this show, but the fact that Boomer took Hera away made me the most upset out of everything. While I started off sad over Boomer and Tyrol's tragic story, I still was very uneasy about Boomer throughout the whole episode. Still, even I was not expecting at all what she ended up doing! The depression levels on this show are what make it pretty hard to watch sometimes, but they also make it so absolutely brilliant. Still, you better fix this, Show!!!
In other parts of the episode, I thought the stuff with Starbuck was cool, but I was a little suprised that we didn't get more answers about what Kara really is. Even so, I thought the moment where Kara and her dad slowly start to play All Along the Watchtower was really cool and creepy. I'm still waiting for Starbuck-answers, but this episode used music to such awesome effects that it didn't really matter that we didn't get all the answers at the moment.

As part of the All Tahmoh Fridays, I also watched Dollhouse, but I don't really have too much to say about it. I thought the main plot of this episode was pretty weak, and I still think the second episode is the best one so far. My favorite parts of the episode were Sierra's super-fan and (big suprise) all the stuff with Paul. Now that I think about it, while this was the first actual All Tahmoh Friday, what with there being a Helo sighting finally, it was really not a good night for Tahmoh's characters, heh. Poor Tahmoh.

Welcome to the All Tahmoh Fridays

**I must first apologize for not posting in a while. If we're behind on the posting, it's most likely because school is really busy. We will try to rectify this soon!

Dollhouse premiers tonight! 9 o'clock on FOX! Whoo! You know what that means: it's the start of All Tahmoh Fridays! 2 hours of Tahmoh...every friday! I know most people are excited about the fact that Dollhouse is a new Joss show, and Eliza Dushku's in it, and it's going to explore deep themes like free-will and identity, etc. But I'm the most excited for the Tahmoh!

Confession time: Helo has been my favorite character on Battlestar Galactica since the miniseries. I love how morally upright he is and I love his relationship with Athena (OTP!) and I love how much of a big damn hero he is.

Confession time part 2: I love Tahmoh Penikett. I think the guys a great actor and very...ahem...handsome, and I was totally in LA this summer and he sat behind me at a movie theater and watched The Dark Knight with me and I could barely pay attention to the movie because all I could think about was Tahmoh behind me and I wanted to talk to him but I was too afraid to do it and it was like the greatest day of my life....yeah...

Confession time part 3: I wasn't really that interested in Dollhouse until I heard Tahmoh was cast in it. I was sort of intrigued with the show mostly because I absolutely ADORE Firefly (still not sold on Buffy or Angel...yet), but the truth is, the premise always sounded so weird that I was unsure if I was going to watch. The Tahmoh casting made up my mind right quick!

Conclusions: The All Tahmoh Fridays make me very happy. They should make you happy too! Come and join us in the All Tahmoh Fridays experience.

Dollhouse, 9 o'clock FOX
Battlestar Galactica, 10 o'clock Sci-Fi

Battlestar Galactica 4.13 "The Oath"

Wow.  Wow.  This has been a good week for TV.  First an awesome episode of Lost in "Jughead" (DESMOND!!!!!) and now quite possibly one of my favorite episodes of BSG ever!  Certainly one of the best of the whole season, and by far the most intense.
Because this episode?  INTENSE. Holy shit!  I can't even really be coherent or deep about anything that happened this episode because I spent the majority of it in a ball on my couch rocking back and forth, totally inconsolable.  I was near tears the entire time and I still can't get over it.  It was one of the best episodes but also one of the worst.  Everything was just so horrible.  I used to love Gaeta (Always hated Zarek.  He can go DIAF for all I care), but now how can I ever like Gaeta ever again?  I'm so conflicted!  While I think that Gaeta and Zarek have a little bit of a point in what they stand for, I cannot stand behind the craziness they've caused and I LOVED when Adama said Gaeta would die with nothing.
There were some pretty awesome things in this episodes though.  Starbuck and Apollo kicking ass (and making out! yay!) was awesome!  I missed this Starbuck.  And Tigh and Adama, guns blazing?  Hell yeah!  I also liked seeing Tyrol helping out and being non-crazy, and Roslin finally getting up and taking charge!
Things I really really didn't like?  Anything that happened to Caprica Six, Anders, Hera, Athena, HELO!!!!!!  If anything happens to these guys I will be done.  DONE!  I was so disturbed when they were beating up Anders (Seelix, you bitch!) and Helo, I was almost sick to my stomach.  Ugh!  I hate all this!
And yet...I love it.  It was just so dramatic and tense and action-packed and had a ton of things in it that make me love this show.  I can't wait to see the continuation next week, even though I'm also terrified.  Tigh can't really be dead, right?  And they wouldn't actually throw Adama out the airlock, yes?  Oh gods...someone hold me, I'm feeling upset again :(.

TV Heaven

It may have come to some of your attention that my two favorite shows at the moment are Lost and Battlestar Galactica.
Shocking, I know.
So in honor of BSG returning last Friday and Lost returning this Wednesday and for both shows being incredibly frakking awesome, I'm going to post some fun BSG/Lost crossovers that have made me smile.

BSG trailer with clips from Lost.  See if you can match up the characters!

Station Galactica.  BSG credits with Lost clips.

I love TV.

I'm attending the So Say We All Slow-Clap-a-thon. Are you?

Yeah, it's today.  The beginning of the end.  I don't know if I'm ready to say goodbye yet, but I'm so excited to see where the journey ends.  It's the best frakkin show on television, and it's coming to a close.  There's just a few things I'm curious to find out:
  • What happened to Earth?
  • What happened to Kara?  (What is Kara?)
  • Who is the 5th cylon?  (Billy?!  Bob Dylan?!)
  • What is the origin of the "Head" characters (Head Six, Head Gauis)?
  • What's the significance of "this has happened before and it will all happen again" (besides just being really creepy)?
Hopefully these are some of the questions that will be answered during these last 10 episodes.  But even if none of them are answered, I don't think I'll be that disappointed.  As long as I get to be with my favorite characters, I'll be happy.  Because that's the real strength of the show.
I've already marathoned Season 4.0.  I've watched all the You Will Know The Truth clues.  I've eaten up the webisodes (Gaeta!).  I'm ready.  Get excited, people!  We're in for a crazy 10 episodes!

Bonus!
In preparation of the new season, watch this video about the music of BSG.  It may be the funniest thing you watch all week:

Also, read this: Battlestarbook.  Hilarious.

Happy 2009!

Oh my god it's January!  A new year!  A time for new beginnings, fresh starts, yadda yadda yadda...
Let's face it though, the real reason January is awesome?  Let me lay it out for ya:

Sunday, January 11th:  24 Season 7 Premiere
Friday, January 16th:  Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 Premiere
Sunday, January 18th:  Flight of the Conchords Season 2 Premiere
Wednesday, January 21st:  Lost Season 5 Premiere

Also, Supernatural, House, 30 Rock, and Fringe all return with new episodes this month!  Oh, it's going to be a good year! :)

Some more 2009 ramblings:
I added a few new blogs to the sidebar, including a great television blog, The Watcher, and in honor of Good Grief talking about the Wings , I've added my favorite Detroit Red Wings blog, Abel to Yzerman (besides television, the Wings are probably the thing I'm obsessed with the most).  And last but not least, The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of, friend of Ashitaka's Angels, The Derelict's, video blog.  Enjoy!
I'm doing a Lost season 4 rewatch and so far, I'm finding I'm enjoying it just as much as I did the first time I watched it.  Look for a Season 4 in review post later in the week.
Promotion for Battlestar is heating up.  You have to check out the You Will Know the Truth website.  The clues are getting crazier and crazier every week!  Also, visit Galactica Sitrep for all the new promos, interviews, etc.  I think I desperately want this dvd set.

This is the New Year

In keeping with the traditions of this holiday, I want to take some time to reflect and share my best discoveries from this past year.

10. This blog!
Why? Because it's been good to share my perspectives with others over frivolously fun things.

9. The Detroit Red Wings

If you didn't know, I think its time that I inform you about how awesome they are in a clutch! Plus they also have one of the best histories as a team in hockey. So I fell in love the moment I went into the Joe Arena and was able to see their mad skillz up close and personal, while having the chance to learn about the amazing players!! And hanging with even better fans!

8. Zuko
So, I've never been the type to side with the "bad guy" in all things and granted I discovered the greatness of Nick's Avatar" The Last Airbender a few years ago, but this summer with the closing of the series and some insights into the character of Zuko I was able to put his past disgression asides and take a look at the masochist that he is. And who can say no to that! No honestly he was necessary for the success of the Avatar and he was so complicating interest that you could never forget him. Unlike Sokka who always had a place in my heart since day one, Zuko shoved his way in there too.

7. Board Games

I know, not something I talk about often, but their a great way to learn a new skill. Bond over the suckiness that always exist when competition comes into play. Finally the best way to get to know someone and spend some extra time with friends!!

6. Prince Caspian

What's not to love? Ben Barnes. William Moseley. And for Mind Grapes Skandar Keynes. Besides the hot main character with his sexy fake Spanish accent and the boldness of the Susan and the ever lovable Aslan with all the action and more of the first film. What's not to love (I say again)?

5. President Elect Obama

More precisely this is in reference to the election and the great exhibition of skill and intelligence that was exhibited and look forward to the 20 days until his leadership is made official. I am truly excited and ready to see where he will take our country.

4. Chuck
LOVE Him!!! There is nothing that can ruin this adorably cute and complicated character for me. I can't wait til he returns in February!! Without Chuck on the TV landscape life would be very dimly lit.

3. Ingrid Michaelson

I am so enamored with this woman's lyrics, because every time I listen to her CD I gain something new each time. Ever since I first heard her uniquely melodic voice I felt that she understood a hidden part of my mind and heart and was able to connect from the very first song. I can't even chose one song as the ultimate song from her collection, that's how good she is to me.

2. Battlestar Galactica
It's just too amazing to sum up in a paragraph. But simply put it always leaves me desiring more and its just so exciting and twisted. Along with all the underlying issues of who has the right to survive? Do we as humans truly deserve it or do some toasters with legs deserve to make the universe theirs? It's a lot more complicated of a decision than you would think. Finally I must leave you with this:

1. Veronica Mars
Besides the brillance that is Kristin Bell and even Jason Dohring and my undeniable urges to share the sublimeness of this show with everyone. I mean come on I even had an embarassing outburst in a crowded food area with the glee of Veronica on my brain. I will truly miss the look she gets on her face when her plan is executed!

I look forward to the great discoveries of 2009! Happy New Year!

Call Me "Sir"

Okay!

So Mind Grapes was discouraging me from watching BSG, cause she thought I wouldn't like it. And she was right....cause I LOVE it!!!!

When I began watching the miniseries I at first was like, this is lame, a total rip of Bladerunner, Terminator, The Matrix ect. But then I got into the good, amazing stuff!!! I mean it has a great plot line, decent characters and has actual conflicts and consequences that viewers can see, the true purpose of a story.

First impressions. Admiral Adama a total dipstick. Then I saw how much he really loved his son and that changed my whole perspective on him! Cpt. Lee "Apollo" Adama, a total cutie yet a follower of protocol. Starbuck pretty BAMF! The first scene she's introduced in she's a puches a superior out! Guys for being so brillant I'd have to say he's a total failure! Six total manipulative and sexy fembot (pretty typical with this genre). Oh yeah, General Tigh, total drunken "superior asshole"

I have to say what got me hooked was the story between Lee and Starbuck and the issues they had over how he died along with the not knowing who's a cylon or not. Total Shock Moment!! When you find out Sharon is one of them...and that's totally depressing cause she seems like she's a cool character except for her moments of yelling and attempting to prove how right she is...

Ultimately, I'm excited to see how it goes down and hopefully Guys
I'm ready for more travels on the Galatica, off to watch the more of the wars!

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA WATCH IT!!!!

It's been such a long time...

I feel really bad about not writing on the blog for as long as I have, but school lately has been kicking my ass. This is the first time I'm able to finally sit down and have a go at the blogging for a long time.  Because of this, this post is going to be a roundup of all the things I've wanted to talk about the past 2 weeks, but haven't been able to because of being busy.

Things That Are Happy Making:

  • Adam Baldwin as agent John Casey on Chuck.  I love Chuck.  I think it's a really funny, cute, clever little show that more people should watch.  But my absolute favorite part of the show?  Casey.  Adam Baldwin can say more in Casey's signature "grunts" than most actors can say in words.  This is my favorite Chuck scene, by the way.
  • The last episode of Fringe was by the far the best episode of the whole show.  I like Fringe, but I normally don't really pay that much attention to it while I watch, but this episode had me on the edge of my seat.  I was actually really upset that we have to wait until January for the new episodes.  Walter and Peter are still the best parts of this show, and I find that their relationship is really interesting and kind of sweet (in a twisted sort of way).  Ya'll need to become acquainted with Walter.  He's a riot!
  • Speaking of best episodes of television shows, the True Blood finale.  Fantastic.  Normally for me, this show is a mixture of cheesy badness and sort of goodness, but the finale was all goodness.  Sam and Tara are still my favorites, and I can't wait to find out what's up with Admiral Cain.  (I really hope Lafayette's not dead though!).  For the lols: Sookie...can you feel my influence?
  • The oldest ever Lolcat!  From 1905!  And it still can't get a cheezburger!  Words cannot describe how awesome this is.
  • HBO has bought the rights to turn the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series by George R R Martin into a television series!  I love these books!  I just finished "A Clash of Kings" and I'm already on to "A Storm of Swords".  If they do it right, this show is going to be awesome!  Tricia Helfer for Cersei!
  • New promo for season 2 of Flight of the Conchords:

  • Twilight in Fifteen Minutes: SAY MY NAME, BITCH!  Also, OMG LEIK HI MAH NAME IS ISABELLA SWAN.  Plus, OMG EDWARD IM SO BORED IM SERIOUSLY GOING TO DIE OMG.  The Twilight fandom can be pretty amazing sometimes.
  • I don't know guys, I may be more excited for Lost to return than Battlestar Galactica.  I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've been on such a Lost kick lately.  I can't wait until the DVDs come out!  New season 5 promo pic.
  • Now, this doesn't mean I'm not excited for Battlestar.  Oh my freaking god am I excited for Battlestar!  Here's the new promo for the season:
  • OMG ADAMA IN THE AIRLOCK, WHAT?  Here's a mysterious website with mysterious clues for the upcoming season: You will know the truth.  These last episodes are going to be epic.
  • Prince Caspian on DVD.  For Narniaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
  • The Killers' and Kanye West's new CDs.  Music is good too, people!
  • Hugh Jackman in Australia.  Rugged...

Things That Are Sad Making:

  • So, I knew I would have to mention this sooner or later, but Pushing Daisies has been cancelled.  I think I felt like if I didn't mention it, it would make it not true, but alas.  This is especially hard because the last few episodes have just been amazingly good.  Our drunk, Twilight-watching friend, The Derelict, has a wonderful rant about the subject here
  • Heroes.  This is the stupidest show on TV at the moment and I can't believe I keep subjecting myself to it every week.  I liked this show during the first season.  I didn't love it by any means, and I always felt like people praised it way more than it deserved (I love this article: News Flash: Heroes Was Always Bad), but I enjoyed it nonetheless, mostly because it was something new and fresh and exciting and I really liked some of the characters (Ando! Nathan!).  Now that all the newness has worn off however, it's just...bad.  And it gets my blood boiling more than any other show.  This show has crappy dialogue, annoying characters, horrible acting, inconsistent characterization, and totally indiscernible plots.  And don't even get me started on what the show has done to Sylar.  That, my friends, is the worst crime of them all.  It's gotten so bad, I was happy that Elle got killed off so Kristin Bell can be free of this crappy show.  Fly away, Kristin Bell!  Fly away, to bigger and better things (like a Veronica Mars movie).  And yet, I keep watching out of some sick hope that maybe it will get better (or for the fact that it comes on after Chuck so I just leave the TV on out of habit).  I can't wait until 24 comes back in January so I will have no choice but to stop watching.
  • House.  Why?  Why do the writer's love Thirteen so much? WHY?!  You know, I didn't hate Thirteen when she was first introduced, but the fact that she is shoved down our throats constantly every single week has made me LOATHE her.  She has freaking more screen time than House for gosh sakes!  Her character isn't even that interesting, and Olivia Wilde isn't even that great of an actress!  So why do the writers insist on giving her so many story lines? She makes me miss Cameron....and I used to hate Cameron!  I know this sounds silly, but Thirteen is ruining this show for me.  I was way more interested in this week's episode of Fringe than I was House.  And that makes me sad, because House was a show I used to consider a favorite, and now I barely care about it.  Go DIAF, Thirteen!  Even professional television critics agree with me!
  • The saxophone.  Tis the devil's instrument.

Well, I know who I'm voting for now...

On Vice Presidential pick, Roslin:  Saul Tigh's pick of a relatively inexperienced woman for a running mate was a risky but well-calculated choice. Roslin's executive order outlawing abortion in the fleet as well as her readiness to throw Cylons out the airlock will definitely resonate well with the base.

Tigh on Energy: "Gods dammit, cut back or you won't have any energy at all! The Cylons will have it all!"

Oh yeah, they're definitely the right choice.
