FORKS

My review of New Moon:

Jacob Black....

/end

The Derelict's review of New Moon:

First, let me just say, that Humanity (but mostly the female population of the world) is very sad-making to me. Seriously, ladies, I question your taste level. Whoever thinks that anything Edward/Bella related is romantic needs to hand over their romance cards right this minute. Those two make me long for a good piece of lawn so that I can watch the grass grow. They are so boring in their attempts at lovey-dovey-ness that they make sniffing freshly painted walls seem like a good lifestyle choice. They are like a black hole of anti-romance, sucking in the emo teenagers who think "love" means mumbling and looking constipated at each other and feeling angsty every moment of their waking (and sleeping) lives. Trust me when I say this, I know romance. I dig what they call "old fashioned" romance as well, since I spend most of time watching old movie romances and reading old romantic literature. Twilight? Not old. Not fashioned. Anemically romantic. The only spark of chemistry and/or sexiness and/or romance comes whenever Jacob comes on screen, and yet at the end, Bella chooses Deadward and it's all just one big yawn-a-rama. More Jacob, less Edward (which is really saying something, since Edward is in this movie for maybe fifteen minutes total so how much less of him could there really be?).

This movie and the book series should just be about Alice and Jasper and Rosalie and the rest of the cool vampire peoples, because at least they smile occasionally, and act like human beings, and seem like they have personalities beyond "angsty vampire guy" and "angsty, depressed human girl." Frankly, if Bella Swan was a real person, I would punch her in the neck. I hate Bella more than Al Qaeda. If I had to make a choice between curing cancer and erasing Bella Swan from existence, I would be torn. That is how boring and lame she is. The fact that thousands, nay millions, of girls and women identify with her and are deeply invested in her story is frightening. I feel like I'm an alien who cannot identify with this strange race we call "woman." And I'm a freaking chick!!! Why is my own sex so depressingly stupid?!?! How are these books/movies popular?!?!?!?! HOW?!?!?!

I can't add anymore than this. Twilight makes me hope the terrorists will win.

Wow! Thank you, The Derelict. That was beautiful :')

KEYSMASH!!!!!!!!!

Holy molee, I love this show so much. It just keeps getting better and better. I don't think you all believe me. I don't think you believe how good this show is. But good god, it's fantastic. This last episode (the last one until January ;_;) was probably my favorite of the season and one of the best eps of the whole show. For fear of keysmashing again, let's just use bullet points, shall we?

  • MARK SHEPPARD! MARK SHEPPARD! MARK SHEPPARD! Oh Mark Sheppard, why are you in all my favorite TV show? Pretty sure the dude has been in every single TV show I've ever watched and I love it! What I love even more? That he played a good demon! Who made out with guys! Ok, so that last part was kind of weird, but Mark Sheppard brought his dry wit and awesome accent to the part of Crowley and I'm really hoping he'll come back. I love him.
  • MARK PELLEGRINO!!! Also known as Lucifer, also known as...Jacob! Watching how amazing he is on Supernatural makes me sad they killed him off of Lost. Knowing Lost however, he probably won't be permanently gone, but tbh, I'm glad Supernatural scooped him up, because he's awesome! He plays Lucifer perfectly. Lucifer is actually friendly, matter of fact, and convincing, with just a hint of underlying malice. His scenes are always fascinating and creepy and I look forward to ever single scene he's in.
  • CASTIEL!!!! Castiel...I've always liked Castiel, but I don't think I've really ~embraced him like the rest of the fandom has, but he was great this episode. First being his usual awkward self and doing shots with Ellen and ruining the picture, but later with his fantastic confrontation with Lucifer. Especially when it seemed like Castiel was starting to realize that actually, Lucifer was making a lot of sense. I may not always ~love Castiel, but I always always love Misha Collins. He's amazing.
  • I thought this episode was great with the creepy factor. The part with the reapers was really really creepy, and I love the way they do the hellhounds. The fact that you can't see them, makes them all the more terrifying. Also, the realization at the end that Lucifer killed everyone in the town was really disturbing. Not to mention Death coming back. That can't be good.
  • And how can I go any further without talking about Ellen and Jo? Because if I'm being honest, the death of those two characters was what made this episode so damn powerful. I've cried at this show before, but never as hard as I was crying when the realization hit me that Jo wasn't going to make it. The funny thing is, I was never really a fan of Jo or Ellen. I didn't hate them like a lot of people did, I just didn't really have much of an opinion on them. But their deaths were done in such a powerful, heartbreaking way that I found myself sobbing all alone on my couch. Huge props have to be given to Alona Tal and Samantha Ferris as they did absolutely beautiful jobs in all their scenes. I think what this show does so well is go into the emotional core of every scene. Even when the show is about hellhounds and ghosts and demons, it always finds the emotional beat to every situation. In this case, even though I may not have been that connected with the characters of Ellen and Jo, the fact that these two women were the closest things to family that Sam and Dean had, and that even if it wasn't ~romantic love between Dean and Jo, he really did love her, was so powerful and sad and kind of devastating. Especially with the fact that Dean and Sam failed in the end.
Well that was longer than I thought it was going to be. I just have a lot of feelings about this show, ok?

WHOA MAMA

Meh

Project Runway finale.....meh. I was dissapoint that Irina won, because she's a massive bitch, but to be honest I didn't really care that much because no one's lines were that impressive.

Worst. Season. Ever.

In better news, Lost is returning February 2nd at 9! It's moving to Tuesdays, people!

Also...Chuck returns on January 10th!!!!!!! omg I thought I was going to have to wait until March.

KRIS

BUY KRIS'S ALBUM OFF OF ITUNES TODAY!!!!!

Link here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/kris-allen/id339251705

I don't know how many followers this blog has. I can guess that it probably doesn't have too many. But for those of you who have been following it, you probably have noticed that Kris Allen has been a bit of a theme around these parts. This blog has been a sort of ~evolution of my Kris stanning and while I know I've talked about many things on this blog besides Kris, I find going back and seeing how my obsession grew is one of the most interesting things. Because go back to the first time I ever wrote about Kris, and I was absolutely shocked at how much I liked him...and how he could have actually gotten me to pick up the phone and vote for him.

The best thing though? This post right here. I was convinced that Kris was going home. So convinced I swore to never watch the show again. Also amusing? This post. Where I also was convinced Kris was going home. It's funny to look back on because I never in a million years thought that Kris would win the show. I prayed every single week that he would make it just a little bit further every week, so that even if he didn't win, someone might see him and and see what I saw in him and give him a record deal. But then he kept making it every week. And then he was all of a sudden in the top 2. And then he freaking won the whole freaking show.

Kris, someone who I really truly believe in their talent, put out an album today. One in which he wrote the majority of his songs (including "Red Guitar" which he wrote all by himself), and one in which he should be very proud of. I've heard horror stories about Idol albums in the past, but this album I believe is really genuinely good. Do I look forward to his future albums a little more? Yes. As his career goes on, he is sure to get more creative freedom and will be able to write more on his own. But as for now, I am enjoying the heck out of this album and I can't wait until I get to see him perform these songs live. I'm really proud of him and I'm proud to call myself his fan.

Favorite tracks: Before We Come Undone, Bring It Back, Is It Over, I Need To Know

Ah god, I'm getting a little verklempt :')

The Office 6.9 "Murder"

I haven't talked about The Office in a while, which is a shame because it is still just as good as its ever been. There were a few 'meh' episodes at the beginning of the season, but I am loving these more recent episodes. The wedding episode was, of course, beautiful (and I still kind of can't believe I didn't make a post about it), but this last episode, "Murder", I thought was one of the stronger ones of the seasons.

The reason why this show is so good is because it can balance the dramatic with the funny. I'm concerned about Dunder Mifflin and where the bankruptcy is going to lead, but I also spent the entire episode laughing my ass off. Whether it was Dwight fighting with himself, Creed speeding away from the scene of the crime, or Michael getting way too involved in the game, this episode had a lot to laugh about.

Also, I can't be the only one who cried over the Erin/Andy thing, can I? Maybe it's just because I have great, undying love for Andy Bernard, but that whole story is so sweet, and curse them for being too dumb to realize they were both thinking the same thing. Someone said (I believe it was Master Sepinwall) that they are like the goofier Jim/Pam: a salesman falling in love with a receptionist. Awwww.

This show, along with Supernatural, which has been truly great this season, makes Thursday night awesome!

Haven't posted in a while

Today I had a conversation with myself that went something like this:

"Self, you haven't posted to the blog in a while, and that's sad

"You're right self, I haven't. I should rectify that soon. But what to post? Mad Men finale reactions?"

"No. You will only embarrass yourself again. Leave that up to Zozizzle. She owes you an epic Mad Men finale post."

"Ah, good idea, self. Hm...Oh! I know! Let's make a post about Kris Allen! You're good at that!"

"Yes, self! Excellent idea! Kris Allen posts are pretty much the only thing I'm good at nowadays!"

Well, now that we've gotten the fact that I'm a crazy person out of the way, let's get to it! Kris has been doing a ton of radio concerts lately, including one on Sunday in Napa. He played an acoustic set, including this freaking awesome mashup of Heartless and Gangsta's Paradise (yes, you read that right):

If you still don't believe in Kris's talent after that, then I don't even know what to say to you. There may be something wrong with you.

He also did a Falling Slowly/With or Without You mashup that is really beautiful.

And guess what? Myself and The Derelict are going to be seeing Kris in Chicago on December 4th! I'm so excited I might throw up.

Oh, and I'm just going to throw this out there, AOL is streaming Kris's entire album on their site right now. I'm not going to go into what I think of it and all that now, I'll probably do that later, but in case you want to check out his new music, click the link. I'll say this though, I really really love it, and I'm so proud of him.

Sigh...such a fangirl.

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

"V" premiered yesterday on ABC. I think I like. I'm a sucker for a good sci-fi mystery and this show has set us up some goodies! Aliens! Resistance fighters! Undercover aliens! Human drama! Mystery! Good times.

I found myself digging the characters already and I gasped aloud at multiple times. I wasn't born when the original miniseries premiered so I really had no idea what was going to happen, and I still don't. Those dang aliens are extremely intriguing, and I can't wait to see what the next step of their plan is. I also really like the undercover alien, and want to know more about whatever his deal is.

I'm not proclaiming this show the next Lost or anything, but I found it exciting and intriguing and I'm gonna stick with it for now.

Plus, Elizabeth Mitchell, Alan Tudyk, and Morena Baccarin? Juliet, Wash, and Inarra?! Are you kidding me? I'm in geek heaven here!

Bust out yo cash!

All three of the (real and true) Top 3's new singles are finally all available for download on iTunes! Yeah! Go buy them, if you wanna. I listen to all three songs all the time, and I kind of can't decide which is my favorite. They're all so good! I'm so proud of them all. Hooray Kradison!

Live Like We're Dying - Kris Allen

Friday I'll Be Over U - Allison Iraheta

For Your Entertainment - Adam Lambert

This would never happen, but God, how awesome would a Kradison concert be? I would die.

And to make this post pretty:

Middle aged teachers have their problems too

1.3 Acafellas
When Will feels a lack of confidence in his masculinity he starts an acapella group with some other pretty lame guys from work. Literally the idea is birthed in the break room, when they're celebrating the return of the shop teacher who lost both his thumbs! I swear, this show totally brilliant.

The lack of confidence started at home and then Rachel added to it, questio
ning his ability to lead the group to sectionals. When his group becomes a hit, sparks increase between him and Emma. And awareness levels rise between his wife and Ken, Emma new boyfriend. With Schuester gone the kids have times to themselves while Rachel becomes preoccupied with finding obtaining a professional choreographer if they're going to get anywhere. And the Cheerios use the opportunity to start some drama. Mercedes is a teengage girl in high school and as a result she feels that she's missing something. A boyfriend. So, when Kurt gives her some attention. The girls convince her that he likes her and she could make it more than friends. She decides to take they advice even though Rachel tells her he plays for the other team. So, while at the carwash, yet another idea from the Cheerios, she confronts him about her feelings for him and he in turn lies and says he's into someone else. So she bust the windows out his car.
While feelings get hurt, Kurt and Mercedes make up and are back to friends and well the choreographer---doesn't work out.

Did they really just do that?

1.2 "Showmance"
So, now that Mr. Schuester is back on board, there still is the issue of not having enough kids in Glee club to compete in sectionals! So everyone is all a twitter about performing in front of the school. While Rachel is concerned about sing an oldie that won't resonate with the audience and Finn is concerned about his image. While Mr. Schuester gets a second job, as the janitor, Rachel circumvents his decision and decides that what the kids in school care about is sex. So, when the school assembly comes together Glee club performs "Push It" by Salt and Peppa. To say the least the performance wasn't all that kosher...

And it turns out to be a big hit with the crowd, but everything has consequences and so with a push from Sue. Prinicpal Figgins decides that the answer is to have a song list with only admirable clean lyrics. Sue decides that this isn't enough and she gets some her Cheerios to join as spies. While Quinn may act like she's there for Sue, she's there to spy on Rachel and Finn.
